The Enterprise Week 2006 Thank You event took place on Thursday 26 April at the Royal Horticultural Halls and was a huge success! It was attended by around 250 Enterprise Week event organisers and friends of the Make Your Mark campaign, ranging from government officials to young entrepreneurs, teachers to the private sector, and that's not forgetting Tim Campbell the winner of the first Apprentice and Stephanie Flanders, BBC Newsnight, Economics Editor.
The day kicked off at 12.30pm, where guests were free to network and visit all the exhibitors from the Make Your Mark campaign, such as Students Make Your Mark, the Make Your Mark industry teams, the Make Your Mark Challenge, Fuelling Enterprise Culture team, and the Make Your Mark local campaigns.
Next the speeches were hosted by Stephanie Flanders, with an impressive mix of people taking the stage. First on was Kevin Steele, Chief Executive of the Make Your Mark campaign who revealed that this year's Enterprise Week will be themed around 'the future of enterprise'. Rt Hon Margaret Hodge MP talked about the importance of an enterprise culture, before blowing the first whistle in the Speednetworking session. Once the networking had died down entrepreneur Lisa Tse spoke about her experience of setting up the Sweet Mandarin eaterie in Manchester. Finally, young entrepreneurs Alex Gatton and Claire Smith took to the stage with Heather Wilkinson from Striding Out to pass on their experiences of networks and connections.
After the speeches had finished there was more visiting of stands, plus workshops from ?What If!, a leading innovation company, and the Connect team who helped with networking ice breakers and explained how to set up Make Your Mark clubs. Colman Getty PR were also on hand to help people who wanted to get their Enterprise Week '07 event 'in the news'.
